Over the years I have purchased and parted out many Silver Pigeons and WARDS RIVERSIDE “Pigeons”…. I have also restored at least one of each model sold here in the U.S.A., and have thus become somewhat familiar with the paint colors used on the various models. What I have learned is that while there was a good deal of consistency, there was also some irregularity with paint colors used and with two/toned combinations. While I would like to give a definitive answer to paint questions, for the most part I can only tell you what I have seen and what I have done.
Very few of the model C-73 have surfaced, and I have not been able to establish the CORRECT paint colors for it. My own C-73 is painted a two-toned light/dark gray combination. This was the way I found it and the way I assumed it to be. Later research quite possibly will reveal the correct paint colors for it. Who knows I could be right.
The C-74 WARDS RIVERSIDE (MIAMI) has been found in two paint configurations. Both appear to be authentic. One is a solid GRAY over the entire machine and the other is a two/toned ORANGE/SAND BIEGE combination, which is the same as used on the model C-75.
The C-75 WARDS RIVERSIDE (WAIKIKI) and the deluxe version the C-76, in my first hand observation were always painted in an ORANGE/SAND BIEGE two toned combination While never observed personally reports have come to me from owners of C-75 and 76’s that are in original condition and painted a BLUE/SAND BIEGE or a GOLD/SAND BIEGE .
The C-80 WARDS RIVERSIDE (NASSAU) has only been found in a YELLOW/WHITE
The C-90 WARDS RIVERSIDE (COMMUTER) has only been found in a MOUNTAIN-GREEN/HUNTER-GREEN two toned condition. Again reports have come to me from people who have a C-90 and it is unrestored and ONLY ONE paint color, (the mountain-green)………
Following is a list of paint colors that I have used in my restorations. All were matched with paint chips of existing automotive paint numbers. NONE are computer-matched . At this time all are readily avaliable
